United Methodist Youth

In 2016, St. Luke’s began a new partnership with the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, a congregation within walking distance. Aware that they had youth, and we did too, we decided to invite them into a shared adventure of youth ministry. From the start, the combining of our numbers was a fantastic thing.

The youth share in weekly gatherings, sing in both churches, perform at special church events, and currently fundraise for an upcoming national youth event in Houston, Texas, sponsored by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. These are big plans and great undertakings for our youth. The youth also include mission as a regular part of their time together. Pathways in Petersburg, Heart Havens in Varina, and our very own Fordham Road Clean-up are but a few examples.

Most of all, we just enjoy growing closer to one another and closer to our Savior Jesus Christ! All youth are welcome to join us on Sunday afternoons! Our regular meetings are from 4:00-5:30 pm. Check before you come to see if any special events are taking place. You won’t want to miss the January Dodge Ball Youth Group Competition at Ramsey, for example!

Confirmation is ongoing this year (Winter-Spring of 2018) as a shared journey of both Lutheran and Methodists young adults, preparing for the privilege and responsibility of church membership and their own personal affirmation of faith.
